We shopped in Oklahoma this morning to make sure we stayed way behind the storm front for our drive today. It paid off, because I found a really cute Southwestern furniture store and bought a couple of gifts there. Ian bought a pair of HUGE bull horns...not sure what he is planning to do with them, hopefully not hanging them over the fireplace in the new house.
We are in Memphis tonight. We are planning a little site seeing in the morning and then a long drive through Tenn. We may even make it all the way to Greenville by tomorrow night. I am sure ready for my old bed again.

Day 8

A Long Drive

We woke up this morning to a snowy Santa Fe. Santa Fe....

We spent a whole day shopping in Santa Fe, NM. We love the adobe style architecture. The City code requires all buildings to fit within the adobe style, so even the Walgreens and Banana Republic fit right in. It is amazing what big box developments will do to be located in the right place.

Anyway, we had a wonderful time shopping. There are stores full of turquoise, silver, woven rugs and pottery. Wish we had lots of money to spend. I did buy some really cute sandels with turquois beads on them. YEAH!

Everyone in Santa Fe is really friendly. And Hershey was a star for the day. She was invited into even the most fragile of stores....we were holding our breath hoping she wouldn't knock over anything expensive.

Our hotel was really cool too. It was an adobe style Inn with a stucco fireplace and handpainted tiles in the room. Really cute and free lattes for breafast. Okay, I could go on and on...as you can see, I really liked Santa Fe!

Day 6: The Painted Desert

Sunset at the Painted Desert

Not only did we see the Grand Canyon today, we also drove through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert.
