Hershey Bunny

Hershey says, "Happy Easter!"

Me and Tisha

Pregnant Girls
My good friend Tisha came to visit me on Friday. Our moms met in the hospital when we were born 20 something years ago (A southern girl never reveals her true age). And now we are having babies together. Isn't that cool! I am due any day now, and Tisha is due mid June.

Our New House

Home Sweet Home
We finally got all of the construction finsished and the exterior and interior painted. The house is coming together. I have gotten most of the boxes unpacked and even have the guest room and nursery pretty much completed. It still needs a lot of love. But we are finally starting to feel at home here. The neighborhood is amazing; tons of kids, dogs, all american kind of neighborhood. I promise more pictures to follow.

The Nursery
When I saw the room that would be the nursery for the first time, my mom and my Aunt Kathy had tons of presents for the baby wrapped and stacked in the crib. It was so awesome to open everything and finally get the nursery organized. What a surprise!

Ian and I have not had time to take a baby class, so Ian practiced putting a diaper on the stuffed bunny (sitting in the chair). He did a pretty good job...we'll see how he does with the real thing.

Baby Duncan Finally Has a Crib!

Ian rebuilt and repainted the crib that my mom used for me and my brother. It turned out perfect. I really love it with the bedding (Thanks again Andrea!) and the chocolate brown walls. We are in search of the perfect mobile to finish it all off. But at least he has a place to sleep if he decides to arrive early.

Total Mileage...WOW!
Just thought this was cool! Our total miles from Seattle to Greenville, SC was 3876.8. I'm not doing that again for a while.

Day 10

We Made it!!!!
We love our new house. Can't wait to post some pictures for you all to see. The nursery is adorable. Andrea, the bedding is perfect. I really love it!
We have the painter and contractor finishing up on some work this week. Once that is all done, I will show the house off.
We miss you in Seattle! But I have to say the sunny 80 degree weather we have had this weekend is hard to beat!

Day 9: Tornado Alley

Tornado Alley
Luckily, we managed to dodge both tornados and golf ball sized hail that were in Oklahoma City over night. We shopped in Oklahoma this morning to make sure we stayed way behind the storm front for our drive today. It paid off, because I found a really cute Southwestern furniture store and bought a couple of gifts there. Ian bought a pair of HUGE bull horns...not sure what he is planning to do with them, hopefully not hanging them over the fireplace in the new house.
We are in Memphis tonight. We are planning a little site seeing in the morning and then a long drive through Tenn. We may even make it all the way to Greenville by tomorrow night. I am sure ready for my old bed again.

Day 8

A Long Drive

We woke up this morning to a snowy Santa Fe. And after a day of shopping we thought we better hit the road. We drove all the way to Oklahoma City, skipping through Texas. Hershey slept with Rocky in the backseat the whole way.

Day 7: Santa Fe

Ahhhh! Santa Fe....
We spent a whole day shopping in Santa Fe, NM. We love the adobe style architecture. The City code requires all buildings to fit within the adobe style, so even the Walgreens and Banana Republic fit right in. It is amazing what big box developments will do to be located in the right place.
Anyway, we had a wonderful time shopping. There are stores full of turquoise, silver, woven rugs and pottery. Wish we had lots of money to spend. I did buy some really cute sandels with turquois beads on them. YEAH!
Everyone in Santa Fe is really friendly. And Hershey was a star for the day. She was invited into even the most fragile of stores....we were holding our breath hoping she wouldn't knock over anything expensive.
Our hotel was really cool too. It was an adobe style Inn with a stucco fireplace and handpainted tiles in the room. Really cute and free lattes for breafast. Okay, I could go on and you can see, I really liked Santa Fe!

Day 6: The Painted Desert

Sunset at the Painted Desert
Not only did we see the Grand Canyon today, we also drove through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. The colors of the Painted Desert were really amazing especially in the evening light. I think this is one of my favorite stops so far on the trip.
The Petrified Forest is also really cool. It is hard to imagine this bare landscape covered in a lush forest hundreds of millions of years ago with dinosaurs roaming around.
Tonight we are staying in Gallup, NM. Tomorrow we are headed to Santa Fe to shop, shop, shop! Hope to find Charlie and Andrea some birthday presents there....we are thinking of you guys!

Day 6: The Grand Canyon

Ian Don't Fall!
We made it to the Grand Canyon today. It was awesome! Almost too cool. It is really hard to take it all in, it is so surreal! We spent several hours hiking around the south rim before eating a picnic lunch. We were surprised to learn that they do allow dogs in the National Park as long as they are on a lease. So, Hershey got to enjoy the canyon too.

Day 5: Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu Shoulda Seen Us Coming!
A pregnant lady in a bikini and Ian dressed like a tool....But Hershey had a good time swimming with the cigarette boats. The weather was sunny but the water was COLD! What a day. We spent the night in Williams, The Gateway to the Grand Canyon.
